Celebrate Caddo Culture Day

"This Saturday", November 2, 10 a.m.-3p.m., Alto

Join the Caddo Mounds State Historic Site [ [link removed] ] for Caddo Culture Day, an event celebrating the rich history and vibrant contemporary culture of the Caddo people.

Activities will include traditional cooking with Chase Kahwinhut Earles, Caddo stories with Kricket Rhoads-Connywerdy, Caddo artist booths, geocaching, outdoor loom activities, seed saving, and more! Food will be available from Tacos Perez.

Admission is free, but donations are appreciated. Please remember to respect Native American regalia and personal space.

Pacific Valor: Sgt. Raymond Eubanks

"This Saturday", November 2, 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., Fredericksburg

The National Museum of the Pacific War's [ [link removed] ] Pacific Valor battle demonstrations each tell the story of a specific World War II Medal of Honor recipient. On November 2, this program will transport guests to the jungles of New Guinea, where Sgt. Raymond Eubanks gave his life through an act of unfathomable heroism on the battlefield. Online ticket purchase is highly encouraged.

A Day of Remembrance

Saturday, November 9, 10 a.m.-4 p.m., Brazoria

A Day of Remembrance is an educational program by Levi Jordan Plantation [ [link removed] ] honoring those who were enslaved or sharecropped during the plantation and post-emancipation eras.

The day will include presentations and hands-on workshops about genealogy research and family photo preservation, a historic foodways demonstration, and a family meal in the afternoon.
