Dear John,

Along with same-day registration and mail-in ballots, early in-person voting is one of those hard-won democratic tools that Minnesotans have used for years to make our elections more accessible.

This weekend, early voting locations across Minnesota are offering extended early voting hours, opening from 8am-3pm. See where to cast your ballot this weekend.

Every Election Day I’ve worked, I find a voter after 7pm (polls close at 8pm) who is stuck at work and worried about not getting a chance to vote. I remember these conversations because these folks are THE REASON we keep calling, knocking and texting until the polls close. Sometimes, we’re able to find a way to make it work with a ride or by appealing to a boss. Other times, it doesn’t work out. For a lot of us, our best chance to get to the polls is the weekend before the election.

Get ready to vote: Send our Busy Voter’s Guide and School Board Guide to your people, and ask them about their voting plan.
