There's not long to go until you can take in the scenic city views on the 210m Sky Skate Ice Path and enjoy a hot drink at the skate-up bar.

For those less keen on heights, a ground-level family ice rink is available, along with a new children’s rink complete with penguin skate aids, allowing even the littlest skaters to enjoy this classic winter tradition at their own pace.

Slots fill up quickly so we recommend booking in advance to avoid disappointment. There are plenty of off-peak and super-off-peak sessions available in November to make the most of lower pricing, and Nottingham City residents can also receive a 10% discount on these slots.

The Nottingham Comedy Festival begins today with a wide range of comedians from around the country, from brand-new acts to top established names. 

The line-up includes improvised musical comedy Kaleidoscope at Malt Cross, the Queer Up Duck Festival comedy showcase at Squire Performing Arts Centre, Sarah Keyworth at Nottingham Playhouse, the Canalhouse Comedy Night, and Jeff Innocent's Smart Casual show at Nottingham Arts Theatre.

With more than 140 artists at 18 venues across the city, there's something for everyone!

The traditional Remembrance Service takes place at the city's war memorial at Victoria Embankment. The ceremony will begin at 10.45am and include the two-minute silence and wreath laying.

The Nottinghamshire Band of The Royal Engineers, accompanied by the Nottingham Hospitals Choir, will provide music for the service. People wishing to pay their respects and observe the ceremony are very welcome.

National opera company Opera North brings "The Magic Flute" - a fairy tale of darkness, light, and finding your way in the world. It takes the form of a Singspiel, which means it includes singing and spoken dialogue (a bit like a musical).

The story opens in the middle of the action. Tamino, a prince lost in a foreign land, is being pursued by an enormous monster. He is rescued by three mysterious ladies, who kill the monster and give Tamino a picture of Pamina, daughter of the Queen of the Night, with whom he falls instantly in love. They tell him that Pamina has been captured by the powerful and evil Sarastro, and Tamino vows to rescue her...

The Wollaton Hall organ was repaired and tuned earlier this year thanks to generous public donations.

You can watch a demonstration of the glorious instrument tomorrow at 11.30am and 1.30pm, and also get the opportunity to view the 17th Century pipe organ from the Minstrels’ Gallery.
