Our nurses have been working every day on the front lines of this pandemic -- yet many are going without the personal protective equipment and support they need to do their jobs safely. This is unacceptable, team.
Nurses deserve more than a passing thanks -- they need optimal PPE, hazard pay, adequately sanitized workspaces, paid sick leave, and housing and child care so they can take care of their families. On International Nurses Day, will you add your name next to Ilhan's to stand with nurses calling for stronger COVID-19 protections?
I STAND WITH NURSES: [link removed]
Far too many nurses are forced to reuse masks, live in their cars or garages to protect their families, and sacrifice their paid time off to cover the sick days they need. A nurse in Minnesota was even fired for wearing hospital-issued scrubs instead of his own so he wouldn't bring the virus home to his family.
Meanwhile, at least 9,000 U.S. healthcare workers have been infected by COVID-19, and nearly 100 nurses have died. It's inhumane to keep showering nurses with empty praises online while looking the other way when they ask for help.
