Disappointed but not Supprised
Last night Tom Emmer hosted a town hall in Saint Cloud and the room was filled with people frustrated by his efforts to dismantle the ACA, and his refusal to vote for even the most basic measures to deal with the problem of gun violence in our country.
One story sits heavy on my heart. It is the story of a girl just a few months old, whose insurance provider denied her the care that she needs to live. That family needs to come up with $2 million for that child to receive the medical treatments she needs to live, and after hearing that story Tom Emmer heartlessly responded by saying that he believes we have the best healthcare system in the world.
I am sure he thinks that it's true, he has plenty of money and great insurance paid for by the taxpayers, and none of his wealthy campaign donors have trouble getting the care they need. The two-tiered healthcare system is working for him and his circle of friends, while the rest of us are left to simply hope we don't come down with something expensive to treat.
Today I am asking you to donate to my campaign so that we can get real representation in this district. My request for your help in this effort comes with a promise; if elected I will do everything within my power to ensure that no American goes into bankruptcy or is turned away at the hospital simply because of the number on their bank statement.
Your friend,
Ian A. Todd
