As world leaders and civil society meet in Cali, Colombia to address global threats to biodiversity at COP16, Indigenous peoples gathered to defend their rights over two days of massive National Indigenous Mobilizations in Brazil's capital.

Indigenous communities from across the country united to decry PEC 48, the attempt to constitutionalize the notorious Marco Temporal (Time Limit) thesis that is a fundamental attack on Indigenous land rights. Their powerful chorus of voices reverberated in the halls of all three branches of the Brazilian government, forcing the Senate to delay consideration of the bill once again.

Yet, we know this fight continues. As the legislature continues its callous attacks on Indigenous land rights, this powerful grassroots movement will continue to organize and resist.
