When I tell someone I work in operations for an anti-trafficking organization they immediately imagine me in a dark room – my eyes shifting back and forth across screens that show flickering security cam footage. There’s a bunch of cops outside a trafficker's house, waiting for my signal. With a final glance, I lift my walkie and give an “All clear. Move in.” and then…

Nope. Not that kind of operations.

My day-to-day consists of collecting the mail, ordering office supplies, ensuring new employees have a laptop with an updated OS, and helping social workers schedule tire change appointments for their leased work vehicle. You know – the exciting stuff. Really movie-worthy. (That’s sarcasm. I don’t even have a walkie. No one here does.)

But without back-of-house support, we can’t have people on the front lines. I don’t see the kids that my colleagues are working with. That’s okay. I know I’m helping them every day. In that way, you and I are alike. You may never meet the children you’re helping when you support Love146. But your giving is making a difference for real kids who my colleagues work with daily.

One of the youth in our Survivor Care Program recently shared this:

“Love146 got me out of a situation I thought I'd be stuck in forever. They helped me with my depression and trauma, and they were there for me when my baby was born.”

That is the exciting stuff right there. No sarcasm this time. And it takes a lot of us (including the survivor themself) working together to make it happen.
