You're Invited to CR's 2024 Giving Circle!

Dear Friends & Critical Resistance Sustainers,

Do you want to learn about grassroots fundraising? Are you looking for effective ways to ask for funds and resources to support great organizing for liberation? Critical Resistance (CR) is pleased to invite you to our 2024 Giving Circle!

CR's 2024 Giving Circle will be a series of five sessions where you can learn about fundraising as a crucial organizing tool in movements for liberation, sharpen your prison industrial complex (PIC) abolitionist analysis, and take action by fundraising for CR.

Abolition is and will continue to be crucial to all liberation fights during this period of global upheaval. Over the last year, CR has been hard at work advancing our campaigns and projects, creating resources and organizing tools, and building the movement for PIC abolition. Despite formidable challenges posed by intensified repression of grassroots organizing, ecological disaster, an ongoing genocide, and attempted shifts toward heavier policing and imprisonment, we forge on. In this time when are working to meet the moment, we aim to deepen our community ties, people power, and the resources to sustain our work. CR’s annual giving circle is one way we do all this and more!

In this cohort model, along with learning the basics of fundraising for PIC abolition, you will be fundraising for your nearest CR chapter or the national organization.

This will include creating a personal fundraising page, crafting a personal fundraising plan, and using that plan to raise funds to sustain CR's growing abolitionist organizing. Each participant will set a fundraising goal and be part of the collective effort. We will work together to build skills and practice, and successfully fundraise for CR’s 2024 year-end fundraising season!
Across the years, these sessions have been a sweet community space and solace for participants during the turn of the season, and we aspire this year to again create and share a space of hope, grounding, and reinvigoration for freedom fights to come. We have seen art fundraisers, music fundraisers, restaurant fundraisers, and many more creative methods of raising money for abolitionist organizing, so there will be plenty of space to be as creative as possible!
Register now before November 18!
We really hope you join us for this year's Giving Circle!

Are you a registered California Voter? Vote NO on Prop 36 & spread the word this election!

Proposition 36 is a new menace on the horizon in California that endangers the abolitionist gains of the past 2 decades. On the ballot this November, Prop 36 would expand criminalization & increase funding to the PIC, taking the state into a harsher tough-on-crime direction, and threatening our ability to make further necessary gains in our campaign to Close CA Prisons.

We must come together to stop this damaging proposition from passing. Read more about the impacts of Prop 36 on our communities, spread the word, and VOTE NO on PROP 36!
