After Duke University and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill co-sponsored a one-sided anti-Israel, anti-Semitic “academic” conference last March, the ZOA filed a complaint that triggered an investigation by the U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights (OCR) into whether these universities violated Title VI of the Civil Rights Act. Each university ultimately signed a resolution agreement, requiring them to take several steps to remedy campus anti-Semitism, under OCR’s supervision and monitoring.
Yet Jewish and pro-Israel students at Duke continue to face anti-Semitic harassment and intimidation, as detailed in a second ZOA legal complaint to OCR.
