John,
For years I have worked to ensure voters of all backgrounds are able to utilize their constitutional right to vote. And this year, for the first time, I am able to join millions of Americans.
I recently became a U.S. citizen and this will be the first time I can vote in a presidential election.
Like you, when I vote up and down the ballot, I’ll be voting for Human Needs. And I’ll also be implementing the very same strategies that I’ve had the pleasure of training hundreds of volunteers on―reaching members of our personal networks, ensuring they have what they need to join us in participating in our democracy.
We’ve spent the last many months educating voters in key swing states about everything that is on the line in this election. Housing and democracy have been two key issues that we hear voters discuss time and again.
But it’s also the high costs of health care and food. Thankfully, through our advocacy, we’ve seen the federal government start to bring down health care costs by finally allowing Medicare to negotiate drug prices and cap the price of insulin―but there is more to be done to protect health care and reduce drug costs. And while many of our neighbors struggle with high food costs, one in three Meals on Wheels programs has a waitlist, with an average wait time of three months.1
While there are those in Congress who want to cut critical programs for vulnerable communities, we’re demanding investments in human needs―and we can afford them when the wealthy pay their fair share.
Rush a donation today to power our Vote for Human Needs campaign and help Get Out the Vote to make sure that voters across the country―including in key swing states―join us in voting for human needs.

1 Nutrition programs for older adults face service cuts
-- DEBORAH'S EMAIL --
John,
We have less than a week to Get Out the Human Needs Vote. And thanks to you, we’ve already reached tens of thousands of voters through letter writing and text messaging, as well as providing GOTV trainings and voter guides to nonprofits serving vulnerable communities. We’re helping educate voters on the stakes of this election on issues ranging from health care to housing to defending democracy.
But in states across the country, right-wing elected officials have implemented voter suppression laws in an attempt to disenfranchise communities of color, low-income voters, young people, and LGBTQ+ people. They’d rather choose their voters than allow voters to choose their elected officials.
At the same time, we’re seeing billionaires spending more in this election than ever before in an attempt to maintain their massive tax breaks that allow them to pay lower tax rates than most working people.1
We’re fighting back against billionaires buying elections―with people power. Just last night we held another virtual text bank party to reach voters who might need an extra nudge to get to the polls. And we have one more text bank planned the night before Election Day.
We’re in the homestretch! Rush a contribution today to power our Vote for Human Needs campaign to make sure voters know exactly what is on the line in this pivotal election.

After the election, Congress will return to Washington to finalize this year’s budget and there are those who want to slash critical funding for human needs. But we can send them a message on Election Day that we will not go back to austerity budgets and cuts to education for our kids or nutrition programs for seniors.
Already, nutrition advocates are raising the alarm about wait lists for the Meals on Wheels program that serves millions of older adults. Meals on Wheels is a critical lifeline to millions of people across the country, but hundreds of thousands more seniors are in critical need of nutrition assistance.
Rush a donation today to power our Vote for Human Needs campaign to help Get Out the Vote, defend democracy, and send a message that we demand investments in our communities―from children to seniors.
