Hi John,
Right now, nearly 75,000 independent voters in D.C. are being shut out of
one of the most important elections in the city — the primary. That means
1 in 6 D.C. voters can't cast their ballot until the general election,
often being forced to choose between two candidates they might not like or
agree with.
[ [link removed] ]Initiative 83 would change that by implementing Ranked Choice Voting
and open partisan primaries to independent voters. All D.C. voters would
be able to participate in primary elections and rank candidates in order
of preference.

Open primaries allow everyone to vote in primary elections, regardless of
party affiliation. Not only does this make elections more fair, but it can
also help prevent extreme political polarization, since candidates have to
appeal to voters across a wide spectrum.
[ [link removed] ]Vote YES on Initiative 83 to make D.C. elections more fair and allow
voters to hold politicians accountable.
