Dear friend,
Yesterday’s Budget announcements included a welcome boost to the NHS, but missed some crucial opportunities to turn around the nation’s mental health. The Government must take bolder action to build a mentally healthier future for the UK, and give mental health services a fair share of investment.
As Black History Month comes to an end, we have launched new research from our Young Changemakers programme, which equipped young Black people to address the links between racial injustice and poor mental health through social action projects, as well as a guide to peer research. The report calls for a cross-government strategy to tackle racism, coproduced solutions to young people’s mental health problems, and more culturally competent support for young Black people.
We have also created a new resource on how to produce an effective mental health needs assessment. Get in touch if you’d like us to support you in producing one for your local area.
