As we enter the final days of the election season, we do well to remind ourselves of Who is on the throne. The identification of God as the true ruler of the universe is a theme throughout the book of Daniel. In Daniel 2 after God reveals Nebuchadnezzar's dream, Daniel praises God who controls the times, and sets up and takes down kings.
Later, in Daniel 4, Nebuchadnezzar echoes this reality, acknowledging God's eternal dominion and enduring kingdom. Then in Daniel 7, Daniel receives a vision of beasts that represent human kingdoms. Each of these kingdoms receives life for an appointed period time, but the kingdom of the Ancient of Days is everlasting. His kingdom will never be destroyed!
These reminders keep us from both pride and fear as the election results roll in. They also keep us focused on the ministry that comes after the election, pointing people to the kingdom of God.
At the Church Ambassador Network, we recognize that no matter who is in power, God reigns. And we want everyone, especially government authorities, to submit to that reign. It could be a Republican majority or a Democratic majority, but we know the majority of people in the Capitol each day need Christ.
