Last year, astroturfed right wing campaigns to ban books and harass school boards took off across the country.

These bans—focused exclusively on LGBTQ+ books, feminist writing, and anti-racist literature—compelled me into advocacy and eventually into my current role: a candidate for Congress running to unseat someone who has proudly called himself “David Duke without the baggage.”

Seeing the power of a diverse array of folks coming together to stand against unfettered bigotry and hatred was life-changing. That experience ultimately convinced me to run for office.

And now we are less than one week out from an election that will shape the future for all of us for generations to come.

As we work to boost Democratic turnout up and down the ballot, and fight to give Steve Scalise the surprise of a lifetime and kick him out of the U.S. Congress, I hope you will stand in solidarity with me and with this dynamic team that is working all day and night to defeat the rising tide of fascism right here in America.
