Hi John.
Happy Halloween! I know this is such a great time for many Kansas families.
So, before all the spookiness begins later tonight, I wanted to share some quick resources that can help everyone stay safe and have fun at the same time.
Please feel free to forward this information to anyone you know!
• Your Guide to a Happy Halloween In Johnson County: The Johnson County website has important safety tips for residents and families, which are also applicable for all Kansans. For example, having reflective elements on costumes while trick-or-treating, or using glow sticks or flashlights, can help make sure children are always visible to drivers or other trick-or-treaters. Sticking to a well-lit route can help as well.
• The Kansas Bureau of Investigation: Our state’s law enforcement agency also has their own information sheet so children and families can stay safe and avoid accidents.
• Find local attractions: There may still be time to learn more about family-friendly events in your community. Here are some possible options in Overland Park and in Franklin County (see Pleasant Ridge).
• Bats in your home? None of us fortunately have to worry about any vampires, but some Kansas homeowners may have issues with bats that can roost in their attics or in other areas. Thankfully, the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks has more information to help residents navigate what to do in these situations, including detailed guides and links to YouTube videos. And while we also may not need to worry about werewolves, coyotes can be in our neighborhoods too.
