Hello John, it’s Ken Burns.
I’ve dedicated my life to telling America’s stories through film. Oftentimes, those stories aren’t easy. They examine moments of our country in crisis and threats to our democracy.
So, I can confidently say our country is at a crossroads, and this is the most consequential election of our lives. We are the stewards of our republic, and now more than ever, our democratic values are at stake.
That’s why I’m reaching out today. The fate of our Democratic Senate majority—and all the progress that comes with it—hinges on Jon Tester and what happens in Montana.
Having spent almost five decades making films that tell America’s stories, I am well versed in our country’s historic moments.
Despite troubling times, Americans have always met challenging moments with fierce hope and determination to preserve a future that safeguards our democracy, respects our rights, and upholds our most cherished value of freedom.
This year’s election is another challenge for us to meet: In Montana’s Senate race, Jon Tester is running against Mitch McConnell’s handpicked candidate.
This race will come down to a handful of votes, and Republicans are pouring millions in an effort to flip Montana’s Senate seat.
