Dear SPUC supporter,

I am HUMBLED by the response to our last mailing.

It often feels that those of us committed to fight for life are fewer in number than earlier days when the introduction of abortion sent shockwaves through society. It is true that we are often fighting a desperate rear-guard battle against overwhelming odds.

But never doubt for a moment that the power of truth to triumph has been shown repeatedly throughout history as regimes of injustice have eventually collapsed.

Not for one moment would I be engaged in any other fight, at any other time.
We received some very generous donations to the last email which have brought our total to £42,287; we now need just £17,713 to reach our goal. This is an incredible achievement, thank you all very much.

In this appeal we have concentrated a lot on the proposed Bill on Assisted Suicide. But I need to remind you that this forms just a part of the whole onslaught on human dignity by the prevailing culture of death. In short, they are in a last push to SILENCE us – through so-called deplatforming, but also with the threat of PRISON and UNLIMITED FINES.

THE FUTURE OF THE UK PRO-LIFE MOVEMENT HANGS IN THE BALANCE
Censorship of pro-life activists is RIFE and is threatening the very future of our movement.
  • Pro-life students attacked on UK campuses
In August, a new law to stop attacks taking place – the Higher Education (Freedom of Speech) Act – was suddenly halted by new Education Secretary, Bridget Phillipson.
  • Buffer zone laws
From today, Section 9 of the Public Order Act will be enforced around abortion clinics in England and Wales making it a criminal offence to even pray within an exclusion zone.

Anyone found guilty of breaking the law will face an unlimited fine.

We will be at Parliament in force in a last stand against this draconian measure.
  • Social media
SPUC has around 15,000 followers on X (formerly Twitter), yet X’s ‘freedom of speech not freedom of reach’ policy - which they use to justify suppression of accounts they do not agree with – means that posts we send out are only seen by a few hundred people.  This form of suppression of the pro-life message has badly affected us on many social media platforms for many years.

Participating in the democratic process becomes impossible when your voice is silenced or marginalised by the state and Big Tech platforms like Facebook.

Democratic rights to Free Speech and Assembly are being stripped away at an alarming rate and the fundamental human rights of unborn babies and their mothers are being further eroded as a result.
Donate
When I see the sacrifices made by all of you (from the smallest donation to the largest) to support our common cause, I am profoundly touched. There are many challenges facing our society and for the vast majority they are deaf to the most profound injustice of the killing of the innocent.

Thank you for being part of our movement and ensuring that every human life has someone to fight for them.
With best wishes
