Assalaamu 'alaykum John,
As we head into the final ten days of Ramadan, we wanted to reaffirm our
promises to our beneficiaries, our communities, and ourselves.
We also wanted to remember all of our supporters who are behind our
work, and stand beside us as we fulfill our mission to uphold an America
for all.
It is because of donors like you that we have been able to fund the work
of justice for the past 18 years. MLFA grew out of the community as a
grass-roots effort to serve, defend, protect, and empower our
communities from the inside, out.
During COVID-19, MLFA is funding 36 active federal cases that continue
to move through the court system. From New York, to DC, to Florida,
Chicago, Texas, LA, and Seattle, we are funding cases from coast to
coast.
MLFA-funded attorneys are working from home. They are filing motions,
writing briefs, and holding hearings with judges via video
conferencing. Only jury trials have been postponed, deadlines are still
pending otherwise.
Our beneficiaries are so thankful that during this crisis, their fight
for justice is not lost in the darkness. Thank you to all of our
supporters for shining the light in the most blessed month of them all.
Your support helps us fulfill promises and uphold an America for all.
Â
In these days of mercy, forgiveness, and salvation, please keep the
cause of justice close at heart, as we continue to observe the fast
apart. Share The Promise
campaign
with friends and family, make a contribution
(or
another gift!), and keep all those facing discrimination, injustice, and
oppression in your dua's these final blessed days of Ramadan.
Donate Today!
In faith and for justice,
Khalil Meek
