Every week, FAMM hosts a live discussion on Facebook with elected
leaders, advocates, and affected families. We address updates related
to the spread of COVID-19 in our nation's prisons and jails, and we
answer questions submitted by FAMMily members who are watching.
This week, we have two events planned that you won't want to miss.
Tomorrow, May 13, at 2:00 p.m. EDT, we will discuss the tragic death
of Andrea Circle Bear, a 30-year-old woman who died in federal prison
of COVID-19-related complications. She had given birth while on a
ventilator just four weeks earlier. Clara LeBeau, Andrea's
grandmother, and New York University Law professor Rachel Barkow will
join us to talk about what happened and how we can make sure it never
happens again.
On Thursday, May 14, at 2:00 p.m. EST, Van Jones, CEO of REFORM
Alliance, and Shon Hopwood, professor at Georgetown University Law,
will join us for a discussion about how advocates are responding to
COVID-19, and what impacted people and their families can do to create
change.
