Friends,

No crisis happens in isolation. Every challenge interacts with existing challengesand, because of policy and regulatory choices, communities of color often feel the greatest impacts.

Today, Attorney General Healy's office released a brief that throws this in sharp relief. Called COVID-19’s Unequal Effects in Massachusetts, it paints a damning picture:

"The cities and towns hit hardest are those that are home to communities of color ... These communities have long been among the poorest and most polluted in Massachusetts, with higher than average rates of asthma-related hospitalizations, particularly among children. They are also most vulnerable to the impacts of climate change."

The brief's conclusion reinforces the demands we've been calling for. We need to codify Environmental Justice policy in MA, commit to 100% renewable energy, and invest in clean energy infrastructure.

When a crisis hits, we take care of us all by meeting the basic needs of the most vulnerable. See below to get involved.

In solidarity,
Alan Palm

Support our Ballot Question Campaign

350 Mass has partnered with Act On Mass to create two questions we want to put on the ballot for the November elections in various House districts. These would send a powerful message to House leadership and other state reps that voters want (1) a more accountable legislature, by requiring that all committee votes be recorded and published, and (2) fast progress towards a 100% renewable energy. Sign up here for a one-hour training on how to help, starting each night this week.
