The general election is just days away, team...
And Democrats currently hold a razor-thin majority in the Senate. The Senate is in charge of approving judicial nominations and the next president may make several appointments to the Supreme Court. So, if the Senate falls into Republican hands and Donald Trump is re-elected, the Court will move even harder to the extreme right.
Americans have become rightfully skeptical that this Supreme Court is fair, independent, and impartial. Why? The Court’s recent rights-shredding decisions and lack of accountability for ethics scandals have made clear that the Republican-appointed justices are putting the wishes of the wealthiest few over the rule of law.
The poison of dark money has sunk deep into American politics, and a Republican Senate partnered with a Trump White House would further entrench it.
The contrast to how the Court would look with Democratic majorities in Congress and a President Kamala Harris couldn’t be more clear: we’d pass my Supreme Court ethics bill — ensuring justices are held to a binding code of ethics, creating a mechanism to investigate alleged violations of the code of conduct, strengthening disclosure and transparency rules, and creating a system of accountability. We’d be able to get dark money out of politics by passing my DISCLOSE Act.
The future of the Supreme Court is at stake next month. That’s why I’m asking if you can chip in before our last end-of-month fundraising deadline to expand our majority in the Senate >> [link removed]
