John,
San Francisco is leading on
public safety technology and other Bay Area cities are taking
notice.
On Monday, I welcomed San Jose
Mayor Matt Mahan and San Jose’s new Police Chief to demonstrate the
game-changing work we’ve done to tackle public safety.
We’ve given police officers the
latest technology to protect our city and hold criminals accountable.
Thanks to the voters who approved Prop E in March, police have new
tools like our Drones as First Responders program, where we send
drones when someone calls 911, giving our officers immediate
information that is leading directly to arrests.
This is the kind of transformative change that is
leading to less crime in San Francisco. And people are noticing our
work!
But we have so much more work to
do.
Electing someone like Daniel Lurie, who has no experience and will
have to learn on the job, will stall all the progress we’ve made and
set us back years. Now is not the
time to change course and put our city’s future in the hands of
someone who has been unemployed the last five years. Lurie doesn’t
have a clue how our police and other public safety agencies work — I
do.
The Police Officers
Association only endorsed me because I’m making sure they
have the tools they need to make our city safer.
