Hey John,
People are heading to the polls to cast their votes. Will we be seeing you there?
The oppressive anti-Black legislative powers want us to believe that our voice — our vote — doesn’t matter and won’t make a real difference in the world. If we keep thinking this way, they can continue to silence us and implement policies that go against what we’ve been fighting for so long to achieve: our freedom and our rights.
Our votes matter, and they’re more powerful than ever. The Black community is not a monolith, and that’s why every single one of us needs to have our voice heard.
All of us at Black Lives Matter remain 100% focused on the goal at hand — not the pageantry of the presidential election, but the actual outcomes, and voting is one way we can achieve that goal.
Together we will organize street by street, city by city, and state by state to build a future where Black Lives don’t just matter, but thrive.
That’s why it’s so important for us to show up and vote on Election Day. The Black vote is influential in pushing policies that breathe life back into our communities. It’s crucial to understand who you’re putting into power and what their policies can do for you.
But it’s not only the presidential election that needs our attention. Local elections for city council and school board members, state officials, and more directly impact our daily lives and are pivotal for progressing toward the future we want to see.
Our local communities are some of the most important venues for us to fight for police abolition through local budgets, fight for prison abolition, protect Black history, invest in affordable housing, fight back against book bans, and more. We can make a huge impact in these smaller elections.
School boards, local budgets, and local representation all have a crucial impact on the everyday lives of Black people across the country.
At Black Lives Matter, we get how daunting it is to know where your vote should go and we want to help you out.
On our website, we’ve provided tools and resources to find out who and what will be on your ballot this election.
Black Liberation is in our hands, Fam.
In solidarity,
Black Lives Matter
Our grassroots movement is pushing for Black liberation every single day. We are striving to create a world where Black people do so much more than just survive. It’s time we thrive.
As an organization one of our biggest hurdles is consistency.
A recurring contribution of anything you can afford goes a long way as we plan for the months, years, and even decades ahead. This is the most effective way for small-dollar donors (like you) to power our Black liberation work.
Will you make a recurring contribution of $5 or more today so that we can keep building momentum for our movement?
