We’re watching our elected officials offer up our lives to the altar of corporate greed, and we have to do everything in our power to fight back.

Indivisibles,

As we write this, four people, six feet apart and dressed in white coveralls, blue gloves and blue masks, are carrying body bags up the steps and laying them down. Two others, all in black, are watching, mourning. At a safe distance, the Grim Reaper looks on, waiting to collect.

Indivisible volunteers are bringing that scene, or others like it, to three state capitol buildings today, taking the symbols of the COVID-19 crisis to the very doorsteps of governors and elected officials who’ve pledged their power to the corporate bottom line at the expense of hundreds of thousands of lives. They’ll be making a clear statement: officials’ plans to “re-open” states without safeguards in place to protect human lives is not just reckless, it’s murderous.

We can’t -- and shouldn’t -- all be at the events today. But we can all support what they’re doing: if you’re able, chip in $10 to Indivisible today to help fund powerful work like this, support groups on the front lines, and enable all our work.

To protect people from the virus and from right-wing agitators, these actions will be just a few people, and they’re not announcing in advance where they’ll happen. But they’ll still pack a big punch. Local news is being notified in real time and they’re on the scene to capture images of the events -- all, of course, at a safe distance.

Our goal is to remind governors, senators, and everyone with the power to change course that we’re not talking about numbers on a page -- we’re talking about real, human lives, with families and friends and passions and hobbies and ideas.

As we watch our elected officials offer up our lives to the altar of corporate greed, and as we see in real-time which lives they value and which they don’t, we have to do everything in our power to fight back. Though many of our tried-and-true tactics aren’t feasible right now, one thing hasn’t changed: we can do more together than we can separately.

Your support is what enables events like these, spreads the images of Indivisibles’ protests, and funds all our future work. That’s what allows our movement to have a massive impact -- even with just a few demonstrators. Can you donate $10 to power our actions, our COVID-19 advocacy plans, and all the other work we’re doing this year?

No one is going to stand up for us if we don’t stand up for each other. That’s why, even in this scary time, we’re still fighting, with conviction and with the knowledge that we’re fighting for a more just and compassionate world. We’re glad to have you with us.

In solidarity,
Indivisible Team
