1. Hurricanes Helene and Milton Response Timeline

Hurricane Helene made landfall just over a month ago, closely followed by Hurricane Milton — marking the third major storm to impact Florida in just over a year. Communities from Florida through Georgia, Tennessee, the Carolinas and surrounding states felt the devastating impacts of torrential rain, winds and mudslides. With your support, Americares was on the ground within days of each landfall, to work within communities and help restore their access to health.

2. Delivered: Clean Water in North Carolina

In the wake of Hurricane Helene, thousands of people were cut off from water. Americares quickly mobilized resources to help communities in western North Carolina gain access to clean drinking water. “The effects of Hurricane Helene were pretty immediate for my family. Not having power and water was a big adjustment at first, as a father of two young kids – six and three. And it was a lot just to try to figure things out, the hand washing, food prep, bathing, cleaning, hygiene. So it's been a challenge to try to navigate through that,” says Jerome, Asheville, North Carolina.

3. Supporting Mental Health Services for Civilians Evacuated From Gaza (video)

Americares is working with partner organizations to increase access to medicine, medical supplies and mental health support for frontline health care providers and survivors in Gaza. We are also supporting medical care and mental health support for children evacuated from Gaza to Egypt.
