2. Delivered: Clean Water in North Carolina
In the wake of Hurricane Helene, thousands of people were cut off from water. Americares quickly mobilized resources to help communities in western North Carolina gain access to clean drinking water. “The effects of Hurricane Helene were pretty immediate for my family. Not having power and water was a big adjustment at first, as a father of two young kids – six and three. And it was a lot just to try to figure things out, the hand washing, food prep, bathing, cleaning, hygiene. So it's been a challenge to try to navigate through that,” says Jerome, Asheville, North Carolina. |
