Dear John,
The Trump Administration is trying to sell off our national monuments to Big Oil
and Gas. Iconic landscapes like Bears Ears, Grand Staircase-Escalante, and the
Grand Canyon are at risk of being permanently scarred.
And the administration isn’t slowing down amidst the pandemic. Instead, it’s
trying to sneak through these giveaways to the fossil fuel industry while the
public’s attention is elsewhere.
The good news: A group of legislators are working to ensure our public lands are
protected from Big Polluters. They’ve introduced a bill to halt oil and gas
leasing until after the pandemic is over and direct aid to people, not the
fossil fuel industry. But we need your help to build support for this bill.
Tell your Representative: Stop drilling and mining on our public lands!

For decades, the Grand Canyon has been an iconic natural landscape for
generations young and old to enjoy. But Trump wants to expose this historic site
to a massive increase in uranium mining.
At the same time, he wants to open up huge swaths of public lands in Colorado,
Wyoming and Montana for oil and gas drilling. This will cause irreversible harm
to the wild places and wildlife that depend on these lands. And it will pollute
the air and water of nearby communities.
Big Polluters and the GOP think they can lock us into decades more reliance on
fossil fuels while the nation’s attention is on COVID-19. But this isn’t true.
We’re watching and we won’t allow Big Polluters and the GOP to hand over our
wild places to Big Oil.
Tell Congress: Stop the Trump administration from handing over our wild places
to Big Oil during the pandemic!

Oil and gas companies were failing long before the pandemic. The crisis should
not be used as an excuse to give these corrupt companies more land to drill and
mine. Instead, Congress should halt all oil and gas leases until after the
pandemic -- when people are able to weigh in properly.
We have less than 10 years to avert climate catastrophe. Our economy is
struggling and millions of people are without jobs. Money should be going to
sustainable economic recovery that includes a just transition to clean,
renewable energy and job creation -- not fossil fuel infrastructure that will be
phased out in the near future.
The ReWIND Act will protect our public lands and take steps toward phasing out
fossil fuels for good. It’s what people and the planet need. It’s up to you to
send a message to your legislator and ask them to support the ReWIND Act,
John.
Send a message to your Representative: Demand oil and gas leases are stopped
until after the crisis is over!
