Let me explain why the stakes are so high:
Donald Trump has been running with a new line of attack against Democrats — including me — over the last few weeks. And it’s potentially his most dangerous one yet.
Trump is openly threatening to call in the military to suppress his political opponents. Calling us “the enemy within,” and saying that we are more dangerous than foreign autocrats like Vladimir Putin.
Ever since I investigated Russia’s support for Trump in 2016 and impeached him for high crimes and misdemeanors, he has characterized me as public enemy number one. But never before would I expect to be threatened with the force of the United States military.
What’s potentially even worse, is that Trump’s MAGA allies across the country are defending him. They’re too afraid to stand up to him — otherwise, they’ll face a similar fate to Adam Kinzinger and Liz Cheney, Republicans brave enough to speak out.
John, whether it was the insurrection on January 6, his efforts to interfere in elections, his support for voter suppression, or his allies' creation of the Project 2025 plan, Trump’s actions have chipped away at our democratic institutions.
He even told his supporters that if they vote in November, they’ll "never have to vote again," and explicitly stated to Sean Hannity on Fox News his desire to be a dictator on day one.
Enough. I’m running for Senate to ensure we hold would-be autocrats like Donald Trump accountable and stop his MAGA movement from seizing power.
John, Donald Trump loathes me — because I investigated him, led his impeachment trial, and investigated his abuses of power on the January 6 Committee. And no matter how he tries to threaten or intimidate me, I will never back down.
