Two years ago, 59% of voters in Kansas voted to reject a statewide abortion ban. However, there are forces still at work in the state of KS that are desperate to strip away women’s access to this life-saving care.

That is just one reason we’re proud to support Lillian Lingenfelter for the Kansas State Senate, District 17.

Democratic women have run for this seat before, but none have been successfully elected. However, this rural Kansas district has elected democrats in the past AND voted in support of abortion access when it was on their ballot. It’s time we finally SMASH that glass ceiling.

Abortion isn’t the only issue on the ballot. Kansas Republicans have come out openly against child care access and have said that “more women need to work from home.” (?????)

Lillian, on the other hand, understands that child care is not just a woman’s issue but directly affects the growth of a state's economy. In the Senate, she will support legislation to make child care more affordable and accessible for Kansas families.

She’ll also prioritize access to healthcare – a necessary response to a growing crisis in her state. Between 2005 and 2023, 10 hospitals in Kansas closed. Most recently, the hospital in Lillian’s district closed, forcing Kansans to drive hours to receive basic care. Healthcare professionals are leaving for higher pay in neighboring states or leaving the profession, exacerbating the healthcare workforce shortage.
