As I said tonight at the Ellipse in Washington, D.C., I know that many of you have already cast your ballots. But many others are still considering who to vote for -- or whether to vote at all.
In these final seven days, we must make the choice and stakes in this election clear to every voter. Especially those who are undecided. That is why I am asking supporters like you to step up for the first time tonight.
Nearly four years ago, Donald Trump stood where I did tonight.
He sent an armed mob to the United States Capitol to overturn the will of the people in an election he knew he lost. And while he sat in the Oval Office watching the violence unfold on television, he responded with two words:
“So what?”
That is who Donald Trump is. That is who is asking for another four years in the Oval Office. An unstable 78-year-old man who is obsessed with revenge, consumed with grievance, and out for unchecked power.
Unlike Donald Trump, I pledge to be a President for all Americans. To always put country
above party and above self. Because I love this country with all my heart and I believe in its promise because I have lived it.
I saw how hard my mother worked to give her daughters the same chances this country gave her.
I was blessed to have family who instilled in me the values of community, compassion, and faith that have always defined our nation at our best.
I’ve spent my life fighting for people who have been overlooked, but still believe that in this country we should all be equal in the eyes of the law.
I believe in the promise of America. I see it in all of you.
But to fulfill that promise, we must win on November 5.
Please contribute your first $47 to help elect me as the next President of the United States next Tuesday. I am counting on people like you to make your first donation to help reach the voters I need to win.
If you've saved payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately:
In less than 90 days, either Donald Trump or I will be in the Oval Office. With your support, we will turn the page one week from today.
Let us start writing the next great chapter in the most extraordinary story ever told.
Thank you and take care,
Kamala
