Mayor Adams refuses to call him what he really is.

NYC needs a mayor who will protect us from an authoritarian – and yes, fascist – president. Not one who appears to be seeking a presidential pardon to avoid accountability for his own indictment.

John, Donald Trump discredits our democratic institutions, praises dictators abroad, calls for summary executions, and threatens to use the military against the “enemy within.”

We saw that and more on full display at Trump’s grotesque carnival of a rally at Madison Square Garden where racist, bigoted hate was spewed – at women, at trans folks, at immigrants.

Trump has the right of free speech, but you know you can count me with everyone exercising their right to protest his bigotry – like the Center for Puerto Rican Studies (CENTRO) at Hunter College’s powerful response to his rally.

In a city with a rich legacy of immigration that is home to hundreds of thousands of Puerto Rican New Yorkers, Trump and his cronies used the MSG arena to double down on racist attacks on Puerto Rico, calling it a "floating island of garbage.”

The last time there was an "America First" rally at MSG was in 1939. There were no MAGA signs back then – but there were swastikas hanging on every wall.

Despite this, John, Mayor Adams still refuses to call Trump what he really is: A fascist.

When asked yesterday whether he was concerned about undermining Kamala Harris' messaging on Trump being a fascist, Mayor Adams was dismissive:

Politico Playbook: Comptroller Lander has also said that your unwillingness to criticize Trump makes it seem like you're seeking a pardon. Are you seeking a pardon from [Trump]?

Mayor Adams: Lander, he's the moral authority of life, you know. Listen, next question.

Let’s get some things straight:

First, yes, Mayor Adams is undermining VP Harris.

Second, he doesn’t even bother denying that he’s seeking a pardon from Trump.

Third, he can find his “moral authority of life” wherever he likes. I’m running to replace him as Mayor — and if you’re with me, I’d really appreciate your support.

I know there are many urgent fundraising causes right now, but if you can chip in $10 or another amount to my campaign right now, I’d be very grateful. We need to be in a strong position to hit the ground running in 2025.

New York City’s leader should be actively working to keep Trump from being elected President, to make clear to New Yorkers what’s at stake.

And if, God forbid, Trump does win, we deserve a mayor who has a plan to protect vulnerable New Yorkers – not just himself.

Thanks,

Brad
