And each day, our message of trusting the science and delivering on the needs of our medical professionals grows more significant as Donald Trump continues to undermine and attack the experts surrounding him.
In recent days, Trump has continued to encourage dangerous demonstrations and rushed reopening in areas that do not meet his Administration’s own recommendations. What’s more, Trump has suppressed a CDC report on specific guidelines for reopening that, while in the best interests of our public health, he deems to be against his political interests.
Trump has ignored the experts and abandoned the needs of our medical workers on the frontline. Instead, he’s promoted an anti-malaria drug with serious side effects as a “cure” for the virus without proper research and testing, and has continuously made confusing and contradictory claims that have misled the public -- like his suggestion that we consider using disinfectant to clean our lungs.
This November, we must defeat Donald Trump and his science-denying cronies in Congress -- like my opponent Lee Zeldin. But taking on one of Trump’s most trusted allies will be a challenge, especially when we have to compete with money from national Republican and far-right groups who are ready to defend Zeldin’s ignorance at any cost.
Fortunately, we have built up the momentum and widespread support we need to succeed. With the help of people like you, we will flip this seat and make sure Long Island has a leader who trusts in science and values your safety. But we must sustain these efforts.
