I am spending time with Kansans in Saline, Douglas, and Reno counties this week. Follow my social media to see more of my work in the Big First this week. I do not serve in Congress to be a caretaker in the slow demise of America – I serve to fight and work to make it stronger. That's what I am doing while believing our brightest days are yet to come. Yours in service, Click below to follow me on social media. Mann.House.Gov In the Office Announcing New Evergy Gas Plants Evergy is an American-owned, Kansas-local, electric company making waves within the Big First. Last Monday, it announced plans to build two new natural gas plants in Kansas. These investments are a monumental achievement not only for American energy independence, but for the Hutchinson and Wellington communities, the people these facilities will employ, and the economy. I’m grateful for Evergy’s commitment to our local communities and look forward to new chapters of Kansas leading the charge in energy development. Celebrating National FFA Convention Last week, the National FFA Organization held the 97th National FFA Convention & Expo to celebrate the next generation of leaders in food and agriculture. The Kansas FFA Association had an especially successful trip. Four Kansas FFA members were declared national proficiency award winners and another five were proficiency award finalists. 10 career development teams placed in the top ten, including the national winner for the livestock evaluation career development event. There were three gold emblem winners, eight silver emblem winners, and four bronze emblem winners. Additionally, Kansas FFA is home to several national chapter award finalists, superior alumni and supporters chapters, and agriscience fair award recipients. As a former FFA member and co-founder of the Congressional FFA Caucus, I know the values and leadership skills that FFA helps develop are instrumental to next generation. Thank you, National and Kansas FFA, for your commitment to developing our youth into leaders, and congratulations to all of the award recipients! Hosting Fourth Annual Military Academy Nomination Day Yesterday, I hosted the fourth annual Congressional Military Academy Nomination Day. One of my greatest honors in Congress is nominating students from the Big First to attend our nation’s service academies. It is always a pleasure to host the military academy selection committee in the childhood hometown of five-star U.S. Army General and son of Kansas, President Dwight D. Eisenhower. The students we met represent the best of Kansas, and I am grateful for their desire to serve our country and grow into the next generation of military leaders. Meeting with Golf Course Superintendents Association of America The Golf Course Superintendents Association of America is an organization dedicated to improving the quality of communities around the nation through the game of golf. We discussed how the association supports golf courses in the Big First District, the Farm Bill, and other legislation that would assist with golf course management and growth. Thank you, GCSAA, for your work supporting golf courses in Kansas and across America. Early Voting in Kansas is OPEN! Advanced voting for the general election is officially open in Kansas!
