We’re at the one-week mark, and with a presidential race this close, every day feels like emotional whiplash as we head toward November 5th.

But here are three reasons why we’re staying optimistic:

1. Jen O’Malley Dillon, chair of Harris for President, recently reiterated that Vice President Harris has many paths to victory across seven swing states: Wisconsin, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Arizona, Nevada, Georgia, and North Carolina.
   
   Vote Pro-Choice runs programs in SIX of these seven states, and our programs also suggest high engagement and turnout around abortion rights.


2. State legislative races are boosting turnout for the top of the Democratic ticket. This reverse coat-tail effect is especially strong when voters are concerned about abortion rights.
   
   Ben Wikler, chair of the Wisconsin Democratic Party, predicts that there’s “a small but significant number of potential Democratic voters… who are disillusioned by national politics but will vote in state races because of issues like Wisconsin’s 1849 abortion ban”
   
   This is why 80% of our work is in support of state and local contests.


3. With registered voters under 30, Vice President Harris leads by 20 points. According to PoliticaLens, if the electorate were made up of only Gen Z voters, the electoral map might look something like this:
   
   
   
   Vote Pro-Choice specifically works to engage young people around abortion rights – including young men, who are obviously being courted by anti-choice and MAGA politicians this year.
   
   It’s why we endorse pro-choice men running for office, why we include young men in so much of our digital outreach, and it’s why we refuse to call abortion rights a “woman’s issue.” Reproductive freedom affects all of us.
