Dear LULAC Friends and Members,
We urgently need your voice to counter recent hateful rhetoric targeting Latinos and immigrants. Former President Trump has made troubling comments, insinuating that immigrants are “poisoning the blood of our country,” echoing dangerous, nativist talking points that not only dehumanize our community but also increase the risk of hostility and violence against us.
Racism is not comedy: Add your name to our petition to condemn racism and xenophobia.
At the Trump rally this past Sunday, October 27, at Madison Square Garden, we were appalled by offensive and disgusting remarks, including claims that Latinos “loved making babies” and derogatory statements labeling Puerto Rico as a “floating island of garbage.” Such statements are not only disrespectful but also perpetuate harmful stereotypes that threaten the dignity and safety of our communities.
At LULAC we denounce all forms of hate speech. All Latinos, be it Puerto Rican, Mexican American, Colombian, Peruvian, Dominican, Cuban, and nationalities from every country should be treated with respect and dignity. Latino contributions to American society and culture are unquestionable.
We cannot ignore these threats to our community's dignity and safety. We’re calling on everyone to denounce this divisive rhetoric and stand in solidarity with our Latino and immigrant communities by signing our petition.
Racism is not comedy: Add your name to our petition to condemn racism and xenophobia.
Your support helps us stand up to these harmful narratives and shows a united front for respect, safety, and unity.
In solidarity,
Juan Proaño LULAC CEO |
