Overseas Voting Update from the ZOA
We are one week away from the November 5th U.S. Election! The time for action is NOW to assure that your vote is counted in the U.S. election. This election is absolutely crucial for both America and Israel.
Some states allow you to vote electronically. See the ZOA webpage for more information on this: https://zoa.org/vote2024/
If your state does not permit electronic voting, you have two choices:
1) We can help bring your ballot back to the U.S., so that we can mail it to the proper election board in the U.S. Please contact [email protected] as soon as possible so we can have our Israeli-based friends help you with this. We will put the postage on your ballot.
2) Under U.S. law, the Embassy in Jerusalem (which ZOA proudly worked for decades to move to Jerusalem), and the branch embassy in Tel Aviv, must take your ballots and transport them to the U.S. Here is what the U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem says about this process:
“While some states allow you to return your completed ballot electronically, others do not. If your state requires you to return paper voting forms or ballots to local election officials, you can do so through the drop boxes located at the U.S. Embassy Jerusalem and Embassy Branch Office Tel Aviv. We can send your ballot by diplomatic pouch. Place your ballot in a postage-paid return envelope or in an envelope bearing sufficient domestic U.S. postage and address it to the relevant local election officials.”
If you take the embassy route, we recommend that you take a photograph of the moment that you put your ballot into the droboxes that are inside the embassy locations. They are open Monday through Friday, between 8:00 AM and 1:00 PM.
