Today, the U.S. Supreme Court is hearing oral arguments on why Donald Trump is not above the law and should release his tax returns to the American people.
John,
Is Donald Trump personally benefiting from the $135 billion #MillionairesGiveaway that Senate Republicans snuck into the $2.2 trillion CARES Act pandemic response? We’d know if we could see his tax returns!
Today, at 10am EDT the U.S. Supreme Court is hearing oral arguments on why Donald Trump should have to comply with Congressional and criminal investigations demanding access to his tax returns and other financial documents. This is an historic legal case to determine whether Trump (or any president) is above the law and can obstruct justice OR must comply with demands of Congress and law enforcement to supply information to investigations into the president’s conduct.
Whether it’s special interest giveaways to the rich and corporations or the way Trump conducts foreign policy that likely benefits himself and his family, the American people have a right to know what conflicts of interest Trump has with the policy decisions he makes and the bills he signs.
Right now, Americans for Tax Fairness is fighting alongside our allies in Congress to demand that the most recent giveaway―the $135 billion #MillionairesGiveaway is repealed―and that those funds are directed where the need is greatest.
Together, we’re demanding a pandemic response that puts people first, not the rich and corporations.
Thank you,
