TELL CONGRESS: Jeff Bezos reportedly stopped the Washington Post from
endorsing in the presidential election. The news broke the same day the
billionaire’s space company, Blue Origin, met with Trump. One thing is
clear: Billionaires will always protect their money first, and that’s bad
for democracy. Sign the petition: Tax the Rich! Billionaires like Jeff
Bezos are a threat to our democracy.

Hi,
First, Jeff Bezos reportedly stopped the Washington Post, which he owns,
from endorsing in the presidential election — ending a decades-long
practice at the paper.^1 On Friday, when this news broke, executives from
Bezos’s space company, Blue Origin, met with Donald Trump.^2
Blue Origin has a $3.4 billion government contract with NASA, and the
corporation regularly competes for other government contracts.^3
Billionaires are having an enormous impact on our political system and our
government — and pose a serious danger to our democracy because of their
tremendous wealth (just look at Elon Musk and Bezos).

act to preserve our democracy.

18 Washington Post opinion columnists called the decision not to endorse a
“terrible mistake.”^4 Over 200,000 subscribers have canceled their
subscription to the paper since the news broke on Friday. That’s roughly
8% of the Post’s subscribers.^5
Workers and consumers are furious at Jeff Bezos — a billionaire should not
be able to unilaterally make decisions with such massive impacts on our
democracy. It’s time to tax billionaires and make sure Jeff Bezos pays his
fair share.

Jeff Bezos. Tax the rich now!
