Dear John,
With the upcoming election next Tuesday, it is critical that we make informed decisions about the future of our democracy, and the future of our youth.
Your voice matters. Your vote matters. Take action and make a difference.

How can you prepare for election day?
1. Understand what’s at stake for LGBTQ+ youth:
- Legal Rights: Transgender individuals risk losing legal recognition, and all LGBTQ+ youth could lose key protections.
- Title IX Protections: Vital protections specifically for LGBTQ+ students under Title IX are on the line.
- Safe Schools: Safe and inclusive school environments are in jeopardy, making it harder for students to report discrimination.
- Department of Education: The future of the U.S. Department of Education is at risk, which would undermine national support for inclusive education.
2. Make your Election Day plan:
Early voting has already started in many states. Find your polling place and see what you need to bring with you on Election Day by entering your address at vote411.org.
3. Give a gift to GLSEN to ensure that we can continue our work to protect LGBTQ+ students, no matter the outcome of the election. [link removed]
However you plan to vote, make sure you are informed and prepared.
Thank you for your commitment,
Melanie Willingham-Jaggers
