Today marks one week out from Election Day. We are in the final stretch of this race, but before we cross the finish line, I want to take a moment to remind you why Eugene is in this fight.

Over two decades ago, Eugene and I swore an oath to protect our country, its people, and our democracy from harm's way when we joined the U.S. Army. Our oath was tested in 2019 when Eugene and I decided to uphold our patriotic duty and blow the whistle on Donald Trump’s corruption.

We reported Trump’s phone call with Ukraine, and our actions eventually led to his first impeachment. That decision to stand up for the integrity of the office of the presidency led to us both being fired by Trump — ending our decades-long careers in military service.

Eugene and I have seen the danger Donald Trump and MAGA extremism pose to our democracy firsthand. And that threat has only increased with time.

We’ve heard Trump declare that he would use the powers of the presidency to seek to prosecute, imprison, or punish his perceived political rivals, vow to carry out mass deportations, and further restrict abortion access if re-elected. And he has his MAGA lawmakers behind him, willing to enable him.

So Eugene decided to run for Congress in Virginia to stop the threat of MAGA extremism and defend the democracy and Constitution we both swore to protect.

But the threat of MAGA extremism continues to be rampant, and the stakes have never been higher. If we don’t win this seat, Eugene’s MAGA opponent will join the group of extremists in Congress doing Trump’s bidding.

Now, with just 7 days remaining until the Election, he needs our unwavering support to take on his MAGA extremist opponent and fend off attacks from dark-money super PACs.

So I am sincerely asking:

Can you chip in $5, $10, or whatever you can afford today to help Eugene before his final end-of-month fundraising deadline? Eugene stood up for us and our democracy, and now he’s counting on you to do the same.
