Hi John xxxxxx,
We are working to unseat each and every legislator who passed abortion bans – in every single abortion ban state across the country. We are officially one week away from Election Day — which means time is running out to chip away at those anti-choice majorities this cycle.
That is why we are reaching out today – to share our incredible roster of fiercely pro-choice women running for office in TN, where, in 2022, the Tennessee state legislature, which is 85% male, passed a near-total ban on abortion.
Before we tell you more, be sure to chip in a split $50 or more donation to help us ensure our candidates have the funds they need to hit their LAST end-of-month fundraising goals ahead of Election Day.
✅ Allie Phillips for the TN House of Representatives, District 75: During a routine anatomy scan at 19 weeks pregnant, Allie learned that the baby she was expecting, Miley Rose, was not going to make it. Doctors warned that continuing the pregnancy would endanger her life. However, since abortion is banned in Tennessee, Allie was forced to leave the state to seek life-saving care. After her traumatic experience, Allie met with her legislator, Rep. Jeff Burkhart, to share her story and persuade him to sponsor a measure she named after the baby she lost but desperately wanted, “Miley’s Law,” which would add an exception for fetal anomalies to the state abortion ban.
However, Burkhart responded by telling Allie that if his daughter had been in her position, he’d tell her to keep going with the pregnancy until the end (!!!!???) AND that he didn’t think a miscarriage could happen in a 2nd pregnancy (???!!!). Now, she is running for HIS SEAT in the TN State House. Allie Phillips’ race has moved from a purple district to a STATEWIDE PRIORITY for the Democratic party and is now the top target for a Democratic victory in Tennessee!
✅ Claire Jones for TN House of Representatives, District 61: As a nurse, Claire is committed to expanding Medicaid, fighting to stop any additional restrictions to women's healthcare and reproductive care, and working to repeal Tennessee's current abortion ban. She’s running against an extremist right-wing conservative with an insane record. The incumbent, Gino Bulso, is anti-abortion and has openly told people he doesn't believe contraceptives should be legal because sex should only occur for procreation. Additionally, he has staunchly defended the right for first cousins to marry in Tennessee. She is running a phenomenal, organized, impressive campaign. We need to ensure she wins on Tuesday!
✅ Lexi Melton for TN House of Representatives, District 35: Lexi has a background in healthcare and is ready to bring positive change to TN. She is passionate about policies prioritizing equity across our education system, gun safety legislation, transparency in government, and ensuring that every voice is heard and valued in the political process. She is running against an incumbent who has passed policies that would arm teachers with guns in schools. Additionally, he supports banning abortion with limited exceptions for the life of the mother.
We are so proud to be supporting these incredible women running to defeat their dangerous, extremist, anti-choice opponents. But time is running out to ensure that they have the support they need to win. Rush support to their campaigns ahead of their last end-of-month fundraising deadline by splitting $50 or more immediately →
