Hey John,
I’ve seen how people have been discouraged by corrupt Republican leadership and extreme partisan gerrymandering. It makes them think that the system is rigged — that their vote doesn’t matter.Â
Here’s what I tell them: state-level races are often won by teeny tiny margins — sometimes even by less than a vote per precinct! One vote in your neighborhood could be the vote that elects a key Democracy Defender. It could be the seat that flips a key legislature from red to blue, and helps ensure democracy works for all of us. [[link removed]]
There are five states this cycle where that’s a very real possibility. Dive in on the latest in these critical races, then chip in to help deliver victories in the  final days of the election:
New Hampshire: The Republican-held state house is a toss-up. The Republican-held state senate is within reach. State law allows for redistricting mid-cycle, meaning a Republican trifecta could redraw its congressional map in their favor (something they’re openly planning to do). Democrats must flip the state legislature and put GOP gerrymandering to rest. Chip in now >> [[link removed]]
Georgia: Republicans have full control, and MAGA extremists have enacted extreme voter suppression laws that target communities of color. We’ve endorsed 27 Democracy Defenders for the state legislature, and have a chance to build power and push back against GOP attacks on our democracy. Support this work >> [[link removed]]
Wisconsin: For over a decade, state Republicans have attempted brazen map manipulation. But this year those partisan maps were struck down, and new fair maps give us our best shot in a generation to flip the state assembly and make gains in the state senate. Help elect candidates that reflect the will of the people >> [[link removed]]
Arizona: Republicans hold just a two-seat majority(!) in both the state house and state senate. A top elections expert has ranked both state legislative chambers as toss-ups. Help us get out the vote, win a majority in both chambers, and strengthen the state’s independent redistricting commission. Let’s go >> [[link removed]]
Pennsylvania: Republicans control the state senate. Dems control the state house. We’ve endorsed 33 state legislative candidates as Democracy Defenders to help create a Democratic trifecta that leads on redistricting reform. Help us flip and hold critical races >> [[link removed]]
These races are down to the wire and eminently winnable. This is your chance to chip in during the last days of these races and make a real difference in securing fair maps and ensuring that our democracy truly represents everyone.
Our state-by-state strategy relies on people like you, John. There’s never been a more impactful time to fight for our democracy in these priority states. Please, give whatever you can to help elect Democracy Defenders across the country: [[link removed]]
