This pastors' conference will equip and empower ministry leaders to address the pressing issues of political polarization and cultural division within their congregations. With presentations from John Inazu, Caleb Campbell, Kit Danley, Linda Morris, Michael Austin, and Vermon Pierre, this conference will foster a unifying and informed approach through workshops, discussions, and presentations. Our sessions will explore pastoral strategies for cultivating understanding, peacemaking, and respectful dialogue among church members, fostering an environment where differing political views and cultural perspectives can coexist harmoniously. Pastors will receive practical tools to guide their congregations toward constructive conversations rather than divisive debates, ensuring that churches remain sanctuaries of Christ-centered unity, truth, and peacemaking. We can't wait to see you there! Register Here Nov 18 - AVC Wheaton Faith & Politics Workshop with Elizabeth Neumann and Caleb Campbell Join us at Wheaton College on November 18 for an evening of conversation after the 2024 election. We'll discuss polarization and peacemaking in the wake of the 2024 election and ask the key question, "What's next?" This event is free and open to the public. If you're in the Chicagoland area, please join us! Elizabeth Neumann is a former American Homeland Security official. She served in the Trump Administration as a senior advisor and Deputy Chief of Staff of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to DHS Secretary John Kelly and Acting DHS Secretary Elaine Duke, and as DHS Assistant Secretary for Threat Prevention and Security Policy to DHS Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen, Acting DHS Secretary Kevin McAleenan, and Acting DHS Secretary Chad Wolf. She served on the Homeland Security Council staff in the George W. Bush administration starting in 2003. As a seasoned national security expert, violence prevention advocate, influential speaker, and Jesus follower, Elizabeth delivers compelling insights that resonate with diverse audiences, fostering dialogue and inspiring positive change. Her most recent book is "Kingdom of Rage: The Rise of Christian Extremism and the Path Back to Peace." Neumann has been a keynote speaker at previous AVC pastor gatherings, and we're thrilled to partner with her again this November in Wheaton. Caleb Campbell is the Lead Pastor of Desert Springs Bible Church in Phoenix, AZ, where he's been on staff since 2006. He's an AVC board member and the author of "Disarming Leviathan: Loving Your Christian Nationalist Neighbor." Learning From Pastors in Ukraine Tortured by the Russian Army There's a lot of misinformation being spread out there about what is and isn't happening in Ukraine and who is at fault for the war in that country. At AVC, we've partnered with American documentarian Ken Harbaugh, who is interviewing Ukrainian pastors on the ground, some of whom have been held captive and tortured by Russian forces for being Christian leaders who happen to be Ukrainian. Don't let Putin win this war. Don't believe the far-right propaganda. Listen to the stories of Christian leaders on the ground, and continue to support freedom and democracy in Ukraine. This video and others from our Ukrainian series are available on our YouTube channel. AVC YouTube Channel J29 Coalition - Inaugural Cohort Retreat The J29 Coalition held our first cohort retreat in Chicago at the end of September for over 30 pastors and ministry leaders. This was the culminating retreat for the inaugural J29 Cohort, a six-month learning cohort for pastors and ministry leaders. We learned from experts in Chicago like Mike Austin, Caleb Campbell, Kaitlyn Schiess, and Daniel Bennett. The pastors who participated in our first J29 Cohort learned best practices and built relationships to help resist political polarization in our communities and congregations. The J29 Coalition is a network of theologically conservative pastors seeking to disciple the American Evangelical church in kingdom-shaped politics. What We Do Host conferences, digital workshops, and in-person retreats for clergy, ministry leaders, and theologians. Curate resources for clergy and congregations. Connect pastors with opportunities for care, coaching, and connection. Follow J29 Coalition on Instagram or visit our website to learn more. Donate to AVC - Change the Conversation Around Political Polarization in the Church This year, we've held three pastor gatherings for over 200 pastors and ministry leaders in Orlando, Phoenix, and Atlanta and launched the first J29 Cohort of 40+ pastors and ministry leaders. We couldn't have done this without your financial support. As we look ahead to the rest of 2024 and into 2025, we plan to hold more pastor trainings and gatherings, as well as trainings and seminars for Christian leaders on politics and political polarization. Your continued generosity funds our work. We can't do what we do without your financial support. Could you give a monthly gift today?
