Team,
I can’t say I’m surprised, but I am appalled.
The Washington Post: Trump rally speakers lob racist insults, call Puerto Rico 'island of garbage'
FIGHT BACK [[link removed]]
Last night, we witnessed a disturbing display of hate and bigotry from Trump’s rally. His speakers unleashed a barrage of racist remarks, including one comedian who disgracefully called Puerto Rico an “island of garbage” and made a crude joke aimed at Latinos. The stereotypes didn’t stop there: Black and Jewish people were also attacked. And to top it all off, he alluded to Vice President Harris being a prostitute.
This “comedian” was one of SEVERAL opening speakers who spewed sexist, racist, and otherwise demeaning insults. What we saw last night was a chilling preview of the extremism we can expect from another Trump presidency–one dialed up to 100. It’s a dangerous attempt to incite violence among his base should he lose the upcoming election.
This isn’t just an unfortunate event; it’s fascism in its most blatant form, and we can’t allow it to gain more power. With Trump and his allies normalizing this offensive behavior, our work to support diversity and condemn hate has never been more urgent.
Now more than ever, we need your support to counter this rhetoric and fight back against the extremism that threatens our democracy. Will you stand with me by donating $5, $10, or whatever you can to help us reach our October goal in 2 days?
