John,
As part of a massive crackdown on human rights defenders in India, nine prominent activists known as the BK9, have been jailed under unfair ‘anti-terror’ laws.
Since their arrest, they have been smeared by the government and many mainstream media outlets have already branded them ‘guilty’ before their trial has even started.
These brave activists are committed to helping the poorest, most marginalised communities in India, like the Dalits and Adivasis.

Whilst the government claims they are ‘anti-nationals’ working against the country, for many, the BK9 are national heroes.
On their Independence Day, we must let India know the world is watching.
Will you email the Indian Embassy in the UK demanding the activists are released?

Yes, I'll send an email

With the current silencing of activists and political opposition leaders as part of the lockdown of Jammu and Kashmir, it couldn’t be more important to show global solidarity with the BK9.
Narendra Modi’s nationalist government is largely responsible for this crackdown on human rights activists, with our own Amnesty India office being raided in October 2017.
This is not the way a major world power should behave - so let’s show him that the world is watching.
Will you email the Indian Embassy demanding the immediate release of the Bhima Koregaon 9?

Yes, I will
