Dear John,
House Republicans have been at work throughout the 118th Congress to enact priorities reflective of the American people’s desires for a stronger economy, secure border, and a responsive, accountable government. The legislation advanced by the House this Congress demonstrates meaningful reforms to return the country’s government to a responsible path. Unfortunately, many of these reforms have been thwarted by the Senate and White House. However, they demonstrate the policy path of an America led by common sense leadership, in stark contrast to the policies promoted by the Biden-Harris Administration and their allies in Congress.
When Congress returns to Washington after the elections, we will work to complete the Fiscal Year 2025 Appropriations, pass needed relief to those impacted by disasters across our country, provide much needed assistance to farm country, and complete consideration of other must-pass legislation such as the National Defense Authorization Act. Below, you can read more about the substantive action being taken by the House during this Congress.

Prior to taking the House majority in the 118th Congress, House Republicans laid out a bold Commitment to America agenda with policies to grow our economy, protect our nation, secure our freedoms and hold our government accountable. In response to the crises perpetuated by the bad policies and the foreign policy weakness of the Biden-Harris Administration, the Republican-led House stopped any new bad policy from being passed. In contrast, we put forward and passed legislation to help combat the bad policies put in place during the previous Congress and voted in favor of our Commitment to America agenda. These bills were then sent to the Senate where they failed to receive consideration given the divide in power. A look at some of the critical reforms we have championed in the 118th Congress: Growing the American Economy - Passed H.R. 1, the Lower Energy Costs Act, to unleash American energy by increasing domestic production and streamlining energy infrastructure and the permitting process
- Passed H.R. 21 and H.R. 22, legislation that prohibits the Secretary of Energy from withdrawing from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve for reasons other than severe energy supply interruption and prevents any withdrawal for sale to China
- Passed H.R. 1121, the Protecting American Energy Production Act, to prevent any President from implementing a ban on fracking
- Passed H.R. 7023, the Creating Confidence in Clean Water Permitting Act, my legislation that reforms Clean Water Act permitting processes
- Passed H.R. 2799, the Expanding Access to Capital Act of 2023, to make it easier for small businesses and entrepreneurs to access capital and create more investment opportunities for all Americans
Keeping America Safe At Home and Abroad - Passed H.R. 2, the Secure the Border Act, the most comprehensive border security legislation in history to restart border wall construction, increase Border Patrol and their pay, deploy technology to the Northern and Southern borders and restrict the Biden Administration’s executive order abuses on immigration
- Passed H.R. 7511, the Laken Riley Act, to require DHS to arrest illegal immigrants who have been charged with or convicted of theft offenses and hold them until they can be deported
- Passed H.R. 5717, the No Bailout for Sanctuary Cities Act, to prevent federal funds from being used to bailout sanctuary cities
- Passed H.R. 2494, the POLICE Act of 2023, to codify that assaulting law enforcement is a deportable offense
- Passed H.R. 8038, the 21st Century Peace through Strength Act, to implement strong sanctions to counter China, Iran and Russia
- Passed H.R. 5961, the No Funds for Iranian Terrorism Act, to re-freeze $6 billion Iranian funds involved in the 2023 U.S.-Iran hostage deal that the Biden Administration tried to release
- Passed a strong National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) to counter aggression from Communist China and support servicemembers and their families
- Passed legislation to provide aid to Israel, Ukraine, and the Indo-Pacific
Protecting American Health and Freedoms - Passed H.R. 5378, the Lower Costs, More Transparency Act, to increase price transparency in healthcare and address the skyrocketing cost of prescription drugs
- Passed H.R. 5, the Parents Bill of Rights Act, to ensure parents have the final say in their children’s education and codifying that they have a right to be heard and protect their children’s safety and privacy
- Passed H.R. 734, the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act, to ensure women and girls have a fair playing field when competing in athletics
- Passed H.R. 26, the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, to codify standards of care for health care providers in the event a child is born alive following an attempted abortion
- Passed H.R. 6918, the Supporting Pregnant and Parenting Women and Families Act, blocking a misguided Biden Administration rule that could block Pregnancy Resources Centers from receiving Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) funds
- Passed H.R. 8281, the Safeguard American Vote Eligibility Act, to ensure States remove non citizens from their voter rolls and requires all individuals to show in-person proof of citizenship when registering to vote
Holding Washington Accountable - Passed H.R. 23, the Family and Small Business Taxpayer Protection Act, to defund Biden’s proposed increase of 87,000 IRS agents
- Passed H.J. Res. 27, my legislation to rescind the Biden Administration’s flawed, burdensome and overreaching Waters of the United States (WOTUS) Rule
- Passed H.J. Res. 30 to rescind the Biden Department of Labor’s woke ESG investing scheme for employer-sponsored retirement plans
- Passed H.J. Res. 45 to overturn Biden’s student loan bailout plan
- Impeached Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas for his willful and systemic refusal to comply with U.S. immigration laws
