Dear Jack,

I'm wishing the best for you and your family during this difficult time. Every Monday, I'll be sending you updates on what the COVID-19 situation looks like in Virginia, and the latest news on what we're doing to stop the spread and help those who are impacted by the virus.

Phase 1 Reopening Update

Last week, Governor Northam announced his intention to begin Phase 1 of the reopening process in Virginia on May 15th. Since then, he has been in contact with leaders across Northern Virginia, which has been hit disproportionately hard compared to the rest of the Commonwealth. The Governor is going to continue his talks with local leaders, and is planning to announce a strategy for a slower reopening in Northern Virginia (including Loudoun and Prince William counties) during his Wednesday briefing.

Governor Northam also gave a presentation on Friday regarding what the Forward Virginia plan will look like in phases. You can read detailed description of each phase will look like here.

May Elections

Last week, the towns of Middleburg, Purcellville, and Lovettsville moved their town elections to June 4th due to the COVID-19 crisis.

The towns of Haymarket, Round Hill, and Hamilton will still be holding their elections on May 19th, and tomorrow, May 12th, is the final day to request a ballot by mail. You can request your ballot at the Department of Elections website.

As a reminder, all voters are encouraged to vote absentee by mail this year due to the pandemic. You may request your ballot using reason 2A, "my disability or illness."

Our Digital Town Hall with Del. Wendy Gooditis has been postponed. We will send an email with the new date when it is confirmed.
