Friend, Hate crimes have reached an all-time high, with a staggering 60% increase over the last five years. This alarming trend sends a clear message: we are battling a hate crime epidemic. And we cannot forget that behind every hate crime there are survivors, families and communities that mourn and live in fear because of who they are, who they love or which faith they practice. But this month, we also learned about the actionable steps we can take to prevent hate crimes, hold the bad actors accountable and heal our communities. At the SPLC, we’ve worked to liberate individuals from hate and extremism for over 50 years. From taking white supremacists to court, to releasing critical investigative reports, we’ve pushed the limits on what is possible when we stand together to fight hate. But the march for justice continues as we are faced with a nation that is still riddled with division and far-right ideals. Every day, we are tackling our nation’s hate crime crisis by: Working with lawmakers to demand action and accountability; Taking legal action to represent survivors of hate crimes; Exposing white supremacists and other extremists through investigative reports and comprehensive analyses on their activities; And strengthening intersectional movements with our partners in the fight for justice and liberation.
Our work to stop hate crimes has never been more important, and now is our chance to root out the perpetrators and systemic problems that have harmed too many for far too long. As our deadline approaches in less than 48 hours, we are asking you to pledge your support for a more inclusive, just and equitable future by making a special gift today. Please help the SPLC advocate for sensible solutions in Congress, in the courts, in classrooms and beyond to end hate and extremism in our country.
