John — In many states, access to abortion could come down to a single decision by the state Supreme Court.

That's why EMILYs List is proud to endorse four pro-choice champions running for state Supreme Court seats this cycle: Justice Kyra Harris Bolden (MI), Kimberly Thomas (MI), Judge Christine Weems (TX) and Justice Allison Riggs (NC). These women could make critical decisions around abortion rights for more than 50 million people.

Will you chip in to support candidates up and down the ballot who can PROTECT abortion rights?

Last year, we endorsed our first-ever state Supreme Court candidate: Justice Janet Protasiewicz from Wisconsin. She won, flipping the balance of the Court from conservative to liberal. Now, we're ready to build on that success:

- Justice Kyra Harris Bolden (MI), the first Black woman to sit on the Michigan Supreme Court, has demonstrated her commitment to fairly interpreting the law and protecting the rights of Michiganders. Liberals currently hold a narrow one-seat majority on this Court, so it’s essential that Justice Harris Bolden keeps this seat.

- Kimberly Thomas (MI) has spent her life pursuing justice for lower-income communities and is now running to FLIP a conservative-held seat on the Michigan Supreme Court, which would ensure a safe liberal majority.

- Justice Allison Riggs (NC) has spent her entire career advocating for equal justice in North Carolina, and we know she has what it takes to beat her anti-choice opponent. Conservatives currently hold a 5-2 majority in the North Carolina Supreme Court, so we've got to hold this seat if we want a chance at flipping the Court in future years.

- Judge Christine Weems (TX) is a proven advocate for justice and is committed to defending the rights of all Texans, especially the right to safe and legal abortion. She's challenging incumbent anti-choice extremist Justice John Devine, who was part of the extremist majority who last year denied a Texas woman an emergency abortion when her life was at risk.

It's never been more important to have pro-choice justices on our highest courts. With Republican lawmakers passing an increasing number of abortion bans from coast to coast, state Supreme Courts will play a pivotal role in determining whether our reproductive freedoms are protected.
