Dear John,
Last week, at a board meeting in Osseo, MN, the school board voted 4-2 to change its policy on how school library books are chosen and challenged (here's coverage from MPR if you want to read more).

For some Minnesotans, this is a surprise considering the State Legislature passed a law intended to stop book bans. However, as we know all too well, where there is a will to promote extremist tactics, there is often a way.

Obviously we're focused on Election Day next week (have you voted yet?!) but our work won't end there. We'll be working at local, state, and national levels year-round to ensure tactics like book bans are stopped in their tracks.

If you're with us, sign our petition. We'll be driving support from advocates like you to show legislators, policy makers, and school boards nationwide that book bans have no place in our schools and communities.
